One Week Out
I feel like I have a pretty good handle on the technical issues in Wuorinen; at this point, I’m thinking more in terms of architecture and direction, and, if my hunch is correct, these will help make my technique more consistent.
The Elusive “Commodo”
Commodo means “unhurried” (Cf. commodious = roomy, spacious), and I first encountered it in the Fauré sonata
I Got a Gig!?!
Yesterday I got a message asking whether I’d like to appear on a weekly show featuring local artists and contemporary music. It would be about a month out, and I figured I should be able to play something in that time frame. Wuorinen might be a stretch, though. Maybe I should prepare a backup?

So why Wuorinen? As is so often the case, I have no idea. My library is full of fiendishly difficult pieces, many of which I’ve wanted to play for years, but this one… just called to me. That’s how it works in my world.
